Why do I run these trains, anyway?
Anyone can lay a loop of track, buy a ready-to-run train, and watch it go in circles. Doing so is fun...for about half an hour. Keeping a model railroad interesting takes something more--a reason for the railroad to exist. This requires industries, destinations, switching, and other elements to make a model railroad work--something for it to do. This section explains the operating scheme and principles that I use to make the Saginaw & Western work and to keep it interesting for me and those who operate it with me.
